Disappointed we didn’t see any moose since I have the last couple of times I hiked this trail. No wildlife, but the Aspen's are still quite pretty. The trail is well marked and relatively easy. At almost 3.4 miles hikers will reach a split in the trail. At just over eight-tenths of a mile from the trailhead hikers will reach the North Inlet Creek. The trail ended up being a little over 7 miles round trip. Lovely trail — and don’t be fooled :-) - no moose or elk or minks out today. Fun trail that isn't too steep but offers tremendous views of the mountains. We did the hike leisurely, enjoying the fall colors. Cascade Falls [CLOSED] is a 11.9 kilometer heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Grand Lake, Colorado that features a waterfall and is good for all skill levels. Inside the park, you’ll have the chance to take short hikes or simply relax. At roughly 1.2 miles you'll reach a private summer cabin. The main parking area is just beyond the split. Great quick and easy hike. Horses also on this trail so watch your footing for horse scat. Please choose a different date. Stay left at the junction and continue on West Portal Road for another 0.8 miles to reach the turn-off for the Tonahutu/North Inlet Trailheads. We were on the trail by ~8:30 and didn’t see any. Trail was great - relatively easy with some incline in the second half. Great place to see moose, elk and even a mink! Just beyond the cabin is the Summerland Park Group Campsite. Varied landscape to see and an easy couple of hours. Wide trails first mile then slow incline up but gains only about 500-600 overall to falls. Cold and windy at the top. It felt like we were the only ones on the trail on the hike up and it wasn't overly crowded on the way back. There's a little bit of scrambling involved to get to the best views for both observation points, but neither is a big issue. Beautiful hike and easy for our 7 and 8 year olds to make it all the way to the falls and back. There is one point that you are on a narrow part of the trail and there is a rock cropping pushing you towards the edge of cliff that made me a little uncomfortable. This is the version of our website addressed to speakers of English in the United States. Excellent hike near Grand Lake. We also saw what appears to have been a Williamson's Sapsucker that was feeding its young in the cavity of an aspen tree. Started on the later side but pleasant folks all the way around. For the most part the trail doesn't actually pass through Summerland Park, but rather skirts around its northern edge. Cascade Falls is close to Cascade Camp.
