I have seen none of season 15 but at the end of 14 he was regular Castiel. Jack killed Michael and swallowed his grace - there was the "angelic sound" (dunno how to call it, you know, that loud beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep) and Castiel was covering his ears. But he just avoids using them. I mean the celestial body. Castiel is proven to be susceptible to magic, as Rowena puts a spell on him, which causes him to lash out on Crowley.
