The owners take very good care of their animals and the scenery couldn't be better. There is a great little shelter around mile 5.5 that is a good spot for lunch. BEWARE!!! If you have time to go horseback riding, we certainly recommend Panther Creek Outfitters! We detoured after the third waterfall over to see the Granny falls and stopped there for lunch. We did a VERY similar loop over the past 2 days (backing with the kids and my youngest's first time). Very cool under continuous tree cover. Lots of doggies playing in the water there. On the trails we used Alltrails for navigation and it was very useful; you could probably navigate it with a map if you stayed on the main trails marked with brown posts, but there are many other trails. The first half of Great Wall (from Big Green) was also wild and some key stairs were busted out.

If you are used to fine dining, a billion thread count sheets, and eat duck liver on a regular basis, this is not your spot at all. When I was there, I could get across all the creek crossings without getting wet (mostly bridges) except for crossing Panthertown Creek at the Great Wall Trail...that crossing has rocks to hop but they were underwater when I was there. The price was great and the trail was beautiful.

Even with Alltrails, we had trouble at the top of Little Green Mtn; the AT map did not follow the trails and we had to search for the right one. a couple downed trees, some shin deep water crossings, and a little bit of mud. Sorry, there are no tours or activities available to book online for the date(s) you selected. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. The three of us met about 4 days before the hunt at Cherokee North Carolina. That whole trail was overgrown. It is a VERY steep decline and the rocks were wet when we descended, making it somewhat slippery and treacherous. Phone died before we finally made it out so map isn't complete. A great place for a full day hike or a night or two with a backpack. definitely recommend doing this one backwards. Do not hike this route without the All Trails pro downloaded map. Panther Creek is a short 20-30 minutes down the road, so they took us horseback riding while we were visiting. Our girls had a blast.
