This is my claim on 42 The Jackie Robinson Story. The book 42 written by Aaron Rosenberg and is about a young boy named Jackie Robinson who grows up to become a wonderful baseball player. The book is about an African American wanting to play for a big league team and gets the chance to play for the dodgers. In the book Jackie had to go through a tough time. Saw the film last weekend and looked in to a story about Jackie and found this book. Jackie Robinson, the first Black baseball player to play in the American major leagues during the 20th century. It was a very good book and similar to the movie, This book is an autobiography of Jackie Robinson, the first african american to play in the MLB. The whole thing was bigger than me. I recommend this book for everyone. In 1942 he entered the U.S. Army and attended officer candidate school; he was commissioned a second lieutenant in 1943. In 2004 Major League Baseball announced that it would annually honour Robinson each April 15, which would thenceforth be recognized as Jackie Robinson Day. An upcoming player, Jackie Robinson, played by himself, is approached by representatives of the Brooklyn Dodgers and asked to attend a meeting with Branch Rickey, the Dodger President. Some Dodger teammates openly protested against having to play with an African American, while players on opposing teams deliberately pitched balls at Robinson’s head and spiked him with their shoes in deliberately rough slides into bases.

i would recommend this because it's a beautiful story on how a african american over came certain obstacles that prevented him from success and show that african americans are just as good at baseball as are whites. Jackie waited till next time he was up to bat to show what hes really got, the coach comes back out screaming and yelling, going crazy, he blocks out the coach and hits a home run.
